Cassandra Van Tonderstarted her career with Manukau Nissan in an administrative role. In October 2018 she was promoted to Assistant Service Manager at Manukau Nissan and in May 2021 she was promoted to Team Leader at West Auckland Nissan. Prior to working at Eagers Automotive, Cass spent the first part of her career gaining experience in the administration sector working in PA and Administrator roles. She developed and gained a broad transferable skillset that set the foundation for the roles she hasheld since

Her first role within the Eagers Automotive group was as a Service Administrator, here she learnt the basics of what being a Service Advisor entailed and dedicated herself to create and improve efficiencies. This hard work led to being rewarded with further responsibilities and promotions such as being a Certified Warranty Clerk.

When asked what she enjoys most about working at Eagers Automotive, she says: “Working with people. Whether it be customers or work colleagues. People have always been at the heart of what I do. Helping customers and solving their problems. Whether it’s a quick fix or mutli-step process. Being able to work directly with Nissan’s head office and drawing on the team’s years of experience.”

Casshas recently won Nissan New Zealand's first inaugural Women in Automotive Scholarship. In celebration of International Women’s Day, celebrated earlier this year on the 8th of March, Nissan New Zealand decided to launch a Women in Automotive Scholarship in recognition of the enormous contribution women make within the Nissan Dealer Network.

The annual scholarship of $5,000 is open to one woman within the Nissan Dealer Network per year and is designed to help break the bias and accelerate the woman's career within the industry and Nissan brand.

Putting the scholarship to great use, Cass has chosen to enroll in a Business Management course through MITO in early 2023. As the first proud recipient, Cass will also become the brand ambassador for the scholarship, assisting Nissan New Zealand to promote the scholarship and encourage more women to grow their careers in automotive.

Cass hobbies include Braai(South African BBQ), playing TV games, reading, spending time with friends and family. Her future plan is to to secure roles where she can utilise her extensive organisational and customer service skills to further develop herself in challenging and rewarding environments.
